I display interest in animation and wish to earn a degree on such. On a bright side, I do like video games, especially platformers. The one thing that bugs me in recent video games is online multiplayer (its just you playing alone against a bunch of people you hardly know. My animations can be found on my youtube channel <www.youtube.com/user/jongoji24…>

Long before My Little Pony became the fandom it became today, each of us has our cliques and bands of other fandoms. Some of us were Star Trek fans, some of us became comic book fans after watching certain animated shows. And then some of us became fans of the band of teenagers known as Power Rangers.

I was one of those fans, especially the first series. I've watched bits and pieces of the other series before finally stopping at Dino Thunder. Now grown up and a Brony among other things, this man has found that the series he's looked upon as a boy is full of cheese splicing footage of a Japanese series all too similar to Ultraman. And yet from the trailers of this, my nostalgia gave this film a lowbrow. Nonetheless, as a person in the art business, it is my duty to look at these films even at the cost of my sleep.

What does this aged boy say...?

IT IS MOTHER:rainbowkiss:ING AWESOME!!!

At least much better than I anticipated, and so are the audience around me, many of whom are PR fans too. There's very little cheese, and when there is, it's up to date! It's darker than all the TV shows and movies combined, but it's about damn time for a darker Power Rangers. The story elements sound like something I can write and perhaps it's in my stories too (I may fix some issues, but it's there). The only minor complaints are that it takes a while to go to, and Goldar being, well, gold (seriously, Matt Frank's/KaijuSamurai's Goldar design is more appealing than what we get here).

There are plans for at least five sequels, but I say go for it.

First thing tomorrow, work or no, school or no, get your flanks to the nearest movie theater. You will not be dissappointed one bit.

And so...

As a little boy, I remember seeing bits and pieces of the original Disney film, and it was only around middle school that I watched the film in it's entirety. I enjoyed it. And now as an animation student with a growing critique skill (why do I make these review blogs), I can be the judge on this one of many remakes Disney has done to it's classics.

So what does old Jongoji think of it? This is gonna give me a lot of flack when I wake up, and it's not a bad film, don't get me wrong. And I humbly respect your opinion (as I would await those from the original crew such as Glen Keane, James Baxter, and Alan Menken).

...

It's just completely unnecessary. A film that was nominated for an academy award, an unheard of achievement in the world of animation, and is part of the Congress Film Archive for being groundbreaking. Isn't that enough to keep it one of a kind?

It adds very little new stuff to the story aside from a few new songs and a catalyst similar to the original story. A stark contrast to the remake of "The Jungle book" which adds a lot from the book and making it an enjoyable adventure. I did hope for a Galavant vibe, but I didn't laugh or cry throughout. And with CGI being commonplace these days, it didn't feel special to me like the original did. Now with the "Lion King" getting a remake, I'm worried about what Disney will do to leave better enough alone.

But I'm not going to stop you, I am no one's master. If you want to see it for yourself, be my guest. Only by bearing witness can you understand.

No more Requests or Art Trades for now. I wish to work on other projects and they would just distract me.
Skull Crawler Sirens
While my memory of watching "Kong: Skull Island" is still fresh, the Skull Crawlers themselves, with their two legged design, remind me of the Dazzlings somewhat, and so I took the liberty of coloring the three in their colors. From left to right: Aria, Adagio, and Sonata.

Drawn and Colored with Toon Boom Harmony. It'll take a while to get a quality like I have with Photoshop, so for now, making my puppets with the program and animating them will be the best thing possible.

It's been twelve years since we saw Kong on the big screen and now we are getting hyped for a remake that might just rock the Earth.

So, what do I think of this entry to the Legendary Kaiju Cinematic Universe?

Well for one, the plot is much faster than that of Godzilla's. As we've read in articles, we don't have have to wait an hour before going into Skull Island. I personally think around 20-25 minutes before we reach the island. From there, everything becomes very fast paced though I do admit that much of the action on the island is more or less filler but still enjoyable with a 70's song or two.

So what about the cast? Surely with a more recognizable roster such as Samuel Jackson and John Goodman, this would be beneficial to the movie. In ways, yes. They do have a bunch of Easter eggs and nods straight down to dialogue.

The commercials do reveal something: Kong was actually a coincidence, not the creature Monarch was looking for. John Goodman's character founded Monarch after his ship and most of his crew were attacked by a passing Godzilla. Skull Island, being surrounded by a thunderhead, was a most likely location (if you were dropped by nukes, wouldn't you find someplace to hide). Sadly, Goodman's character and arc is finished during the venture in the Mass Grave and so Jackson's character takes the revenge plot, having lost most of his men by Kong after surviving Vietnam.

Outside of Kong, the Skull Crawlers, a squid that Kong eats, a spider (I just call it Kumonga) and a pterosaur-like creature with sawfish head, all the other creatures are props.

So what's the verdict? Is it worth me going to a late night showing after work, risking a little amount of sleep as I write this blog post?

Yes.

Get your ass over to the nearest theater and buy a ticket. And be prepared for the next hype of a battle between the dinosaur, the bird, the moth, and a three-headed dragon.

Pretty good today tbh. My work day was short, I had lunch with my mother with plans on making a move to an apartment (she agreed to be my cosigner, woke up from a long nap (the wifi was out in school and I was pretty tired when I got back), and now I'm getting back to working on my Toon Boom Puppets (right now, I'm getting Rarity's blink cycles).
