As a little boy, I remember seeing bits and pieces of the original Disney film, and it was only around middle school that I watched the film in it's entirety. I enjoyed it. And now as an animation student with a growing critique skill (why do I make these review blogs), I can be the judge on this one of many remakes Disney has done to it's classics.
So what does old Jongoji think of it? This is gonna give me a lot of flack when I wake up, and it's not a bad film, don't get me wrong. And I humbly respect your opinion (as I would await those from the original crew such as Glen Keane, James Baxter, and Alan Menken).
...
It's just completely unnecessary. A film that was nominated for an academy award, an unheard of achievement in the world of animation, and is part of the Congress Film Archive for being groundbreaking. Isn't that enough to keep it one of a kind?
It adds very little new stuff to the story aside from a few new songs and a catalyst similar to the original story. A stark contrast to the remake of "The Jungle book" which adds a lot from the book and making it an enjoyable adventure. I did hope for a Galavant vibe, but I didn't laugh or cry throughout. And with CGI being commonplace these days, it didn't feel special to me like the original did. Now with the "Lion King" getting a remake, I'm worried about what Disney will do to leave better enough alone.
But I'm not going to stop you, I am no one's master. If you want to see it for yourself, be my guest. Only by bearing witness can you understand.

End of March Blog.
While this post may not reach a lot of people, enough time has passed for me to make my statement. As I have been seeing posts of others deciding to leave Deviantart in light of the website promoting Eh-Eye art, I'm sure you guys would want to know my decision on the matter. Rest assured. I will stay. I will fight. Knowing that it's this bad, it makes better sense to stay and fight than just run away. I know I'll probably never reach 1K at this point now. But fame was never my intention. It was for fun. Besides, when we look back at this in the future, you may find lesser known artists like myself more engaging to research (I've done one such research paper in college). I have been far less active on this website, hell on other alternatives, than I hoped thanks to my job, which, in all fairness and despite recent irritation, has given me a much needed leg up. Perhaps after my sister's wedding this Friday, I would start uploading artwork that I've created years ago but not
For new artists I follow.
In a website now dominated by AI art, scammers, let alone art thieves, shouldn't it be wise of you to follow back those who have put in the time and effort (e.g. lifted a drawing or sculpting tool. A computer mouse also counts. All the way down to a watermark for good measure) who follow you? It would be of great help to gather strength from those of us who still stay and don't us AI.
I do not know which is worse.
That there are people doing petty things to one person in particular? Or the fact I want to even see them try if it means said person has to touch grass to get me? Again, this is disgusting, Corbettthomashobby.
My thirty-first February... And Knuckles.
Amusingly, when we got Sonic 3 on my birthday, it was just the cartridge, so we didn't know who he was until I started playing Sonic Adventure on the Dreamcast. To this day, I feel Knuckles needs more love than Shadow, and I'm glad they're giving him the similar respect I had way back when. Honestly, beyond a possible Chaotix remake, a Knuckles game would work well with the open world formula. I haven't played Sonic: Frontiers, but I know from honest memory that a climbing, gliding, burrowing egg laying mammal has more exploration options than even a flying Kitsune. Happy 30th, Knuckles!
